McCain Criticizes Obama for Pro-Abortion Votes on Infanticide, Partial-Birth
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- During the third and final presidential debate, John McCain took the opportunity to criticize Barack Obama on two votes that some say make him the most pro-abortion presidential candidate in modern history. Those votes include ones against an anti-infanticide bill and against a ban on partial-birth abortion. Senator Obama, as a member of the Illinois State Senate, voted in the Judiciary Committee against a law that would provide immediate medical attention to a child born of a failed abortion. He voted against that, McCain said. And then, on the floor of the State Senate, as he did 130 times as a state senator, he voted present, McCain explained. Then there was another bill before the Senate Judiciary Committee in the state of Illinois not that long ago, where he voted against a ban on partial-birth abortion, one of the late-term abortion, a really -- one of the bad procedures, a terrible. And then, on the floor of the Illinois State Senate, he voted present, McCain added. I dont know how you vote present on some of that, he said. I dont know how you align yourself with the extreme aspect of the pro- abortion movement in America. And thats his record, and thats a matter of his record. It was clear-cut votes that Senator Obama voted, I think, in direct contradiction to the feelings and views of mainstream America, McCain concluded. Obama relied on the same rebuttal he has used before to say that critics of his record are lying, even though nonpartisan analysis shows Obama is incorrect on his own record. Nurse Who Exposed Infanticide-Based Abortions: Obama Lied During Debate
Chicago, IL (LifeNews.com) -- The Chicago-area nurse who exposed the practice of life-birth abortions that led to he bill Barack Obama repeatedly opposed in the Illinois legislature says Obama lied about his record during the final presidential debate. Jill Stanek says Obama again misrepresented his position and record before the American people. McCain took Obama to task during the debate when the topic turned to abortion. Obama responded to the charge by repeating his claim that he voted against the bill because it would have undermined Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court case that allowed virtually unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy. However, as Stanek explains, Obama voted for an amendment to the bill to mitigate those concerns and subsequently voted against the legislation anyway. Stanek said the bill, the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, simply stated all born alive babies became legally protected persons immediately upon birth, no matter what gestational age and no matter if unwanted abortion survivors. Obama voted against this straightforward human rights legislation four times stating as the sole state senator speaking against it on the Senate floor in 2001 it would be unconstitutional to declare very premature abortion survivors persons, Stanek explained. Obama also defended his votes against the anti-infanticide bill by claiming "there was already a law on the books in Illinois that required providing lifesaving treatment. Stanek also called that a lie saying Illinois abortion law to this day only protects abortion survivors their abortionist deems fit to live." Full story at LifeNews.com.

McCain, Obama Exhibit Wide Divide on Abortion, Supreme Court Judges
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- During the final presidential debate, the issue of abortion finally received its day and presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama exhibited a wide divide on abortion as it relates to the Supreme Court. Obama made it clear he supports the case that allowed unlimited abortions while McCain said he wants judges who won't legislate from the bench. I will find the best people in the world -- in the United States of America who have a history of strict adherence to the Constitution, McCain said. Asked in a follow-up, he said he didn't think supporting unlimited abortion is part of the qualifications for a position on the Supreme Court. I would consider anyone in their qualifications. I do not believe that someone who has supported Roe v. Wade that would be part of those qualifications, he said. McCain also repeated his position that he thinks Roe v. Wade, which allowed virtually unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy for any reason, should be overturned. Obama admitted that Roe versus Wade probably hangs in the balance because the next president will appoint one or more Supreme Court judges. I would not provide a litmus test. But I am somebody who believes that Roe versus Wade was rightly decided, Obama added. Full story at LifeNews.com
Post-Debate Polling Data Shows Conflicting Results on McCain-Obama Clash
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Instant polling data following the third and final debate between pro-life candidate John McCain and his pro-abortion rival Barack Obama show conflicting results. Depending on the poll or survey, the debate ended in a tie or Obama ran away with it by double digit margins. The Insider Advantage polling firm conducted a survey for the political web site Politico and found uncommitted likely voted closely divided on who won the debate. Some 49 percent of those middle of the road voters indicated they thought Obama won the debate while 46 percent say McCain was the winner. That three percentage point edge for Obama was within the margin of error, meaning the undecided voters believed the debate ended in a tie. The same voters were also asked in advance of the debate whether they would support Obama or McCain and the poll also found the voters evenly divided. Although not a scientific poll, a survey of AOL users also provides some insight because of the sheer number of people who voted online in its poll. With nearly 200,000 people voting online, 48 percent believed Obama won the debate while 47 percent said McCain did. An equal 46 percent of the participants said McCain and Obama did an excellent job in the debate, 33 percent called Obamas performance fair and 31 percent called McCains fair. Some 22 percent of those in the survey indicated the debate affected how they would vote. However, instant polls conducted by CNN and CBS News, whose surveys have been well outside the mainstream compared with other media outlets and polling firms, found different results.
